First and foremost, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope you all had an amazing New Year’s Eve. I certainly did, and the best part was having Stefan by my side as the clock struck midnight. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

On New Year’s Eve, we attended a party in Amsterdam with Soraya and Simon, and it was an absolute blast! I had a fantastic time, and yes, I may have had a few too many drinks. The downside is that January 1st began with a brutal hangover. I also managed to capture some videos during the festivities because I brought my Flip Cam with me. However, there’s a “but” in this story, and it’s not just a minor blunder – it’s way worse than that!

When we returned home at about 7 am, I decided to do some laundry. At that point, I believe I was still a bit intoxicated. I tossed all my dirty clothes into the washing machine, turned it on, and let it run. In the meantime, I wanted to review the videos I had shot, so I began searching for my Flip Cam. The trouble began when I couldn’t locate it anywhere. Uh-oh! The washing machine was already in operation, and I had a dreadful hunch that my Flip Cam was in the pocket of the pants I had tossed in for washing. So, I took immediate action – I halted the washing machine, which was already filled with water and spinning. I drained the water and opened the washing machine door. And there it was, my Flip Cam, thoroughly soaked. I was furious with myself. It was lifeless and completely unresponsive. I tried drying it off and placing it on my heater for a while, but it remained lifeless.

Stefan did some research online and came across stories from others who had faced similar situations. Apparently, after a few days, the Flip Cam miraculously started working again. So, I’m currently in the waiting game, and I’ve even resorted to the rice trick – placing it in a bowl filled with rice. This method has worked wonders for people who’ve accidentally soaked their BlackBerries or iPhones, so I’m hopeful it might work for my Flip Cam as well. Not the ideal way to start the new year, is it?

I’m genuinely bummed about the whole situation. If my Flip Cam does come back to life, I hope the New Year’s Eve videos are still intact. Fingers crossed. This ordeal has also put a pause on creating videos for my YouTube channel, which is a major bummer. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best – that my Flip Cam will spring back to life.
